Local businesses throughout mid-Maine are collecting food for local food pantries through United Way of Mid-Maine’s Pantry Project. The goal of the Pantry Project is to work with businesses to help keep our food pantry shelves full past the holiday donation season. The Pantry Project offers a mobile collection center that businesses use temporarily while they encourage staff and customers to bring in and donate non-perishable food items. Local companies, such as The Bank of Maine on 258 KMD Waterville and Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers on 93 Silver Street in Waterville are set up to host their food drives from October 21 ending on November 8. United Way of Mid-Maine is seeking additional businesses and organizations that would like to host the Pantry Project for 2-3 weeks at their location. For more information, contact United Way of Mid-Maine at 873-0686. United Way of Mid-Maine serves northern Kennebec, Somerset, and western Waldo counties.
