Strengthening Children, Youth, and Families

Community Vision:

We strive to make sure that children and youth reach their fullest potential.

 

The Strengthening Children, Youth, and Families Community Impact Team works hard to make sure

that the services and programs result in:

 

Children birth to Kindergarten

  • are ready to learn and the number of children entering school not ready to learn are identified and reduced
  • families and caregivers have access to available resources 
  • the number of parents and caregivers with knowledge and skills regarding early childhood development is increased
  • community knowledge about the importance of quality care and education is increased

Children 6 to 12

  • have access to safe and positive activities safe quality programming beyond scheduled school hours is available
  • the development of positive family modeling is facilitated

Youth 13-18

  • have learning opportunities to prepare them for a productive life
  • job readiness skills
  • good decision making skills
  • effective parenting
  • self-sufficiency
  • life-long learning
  • positive connections to adults and the community are increased

  • Alfond Youth Center - After School Program and Camp Tracy
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters Program of Kennebec Valley
  • Children's Center - Early Intervention and Family Support
  • Crisis and Counseling Centers
  • Girl Scouts of Maine
  • Inside Out Playground and Preschool
  • Kennebec Valley Community Action Program - Child and Family Services, Community Outreach, South End Teen Center ,  Personal Body Safety/Talking About Touching
  • Maine Children's Home For Little Wanderers -Teen Parent School Program
  • Sexual Assault Crisis and Support - Prevention Program
  • Youth and Family Services - Counseling and Community Serivces
