What is 2-1-1 Maine?
2-1-1 Maine is an easy-to-access, free phone number and online service that allows individuals to link to a broad range of health and social service resources across the state and right in their own communities.

From learning where to go for counseling, to how to find after school programs, to where you can make a difference by volunteering, dialing 2-1-1 is the simple, centralized tool to find the answers you need.

Live call center specialists help callers identify their need and direct them to the most appropriate assistance.
2-1-1 is a national movement and Maine is the 15th state to offer the service statewide.

Where does 2-1-1 work in Maine?
Residents in Maine call dial 2-1-1 for help now. The call center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Calls from cell phones will also be accepted.

Who are the partners behind 2-1-1 Maine?
Many partners worked long and hard for 6 years to bring this innovative service to Maine. The major 2-1-1 partners include the ten United Ways in Maine, Ingraham (who serves as the 2-1-1 Call Center provider) and the State of Maine.

There are 7 resource coordinators located throughout the State who will keep the information on 2-1-1 Maine database accurate and current.

2-1-1 currently over 6,000 resources available and there are hundreds of reasons for individuals to access 2-1-1. Here are a few:

  • You have recently moved to Maine and you would like to find an after school program for your children.
  • After years of unhealthy drinking, you would like to locate a support group in your community.
  • You know your partner is abusive, you are frightened and confused and finding the right “800” number is stumping you, but you want to talk to someone fast.
  • You don’t make more than $30,000 but you would really like some help completing your income tax forms.
  • You just saw a news story about the flooding and maybe you should go over there and volunteer?
  • You are a service provider and need links for referral or discharge planning.
